Image to LaTeX
Convert handwritten or printed math into clean, compilable LaTeX code using TeXeR's AI-powered OCR engine.
Supported input
- Handwritten equations: notes, whiteboard photos, paper scans
- Printed math: textbook screenshots, PDF snippets, journal clippings
- Mixed content: text paragraphs with embedded equations
- Formats: PNG, JPG, WebP (max 10 MB per image)
How it works
- Navigate to Snips from the dashboard sidebar
- Drag and drop an image, or click to browse your files
- Click Convert to LaTeX: the OCR model runs server-side and returns results in 2–5 seconds
- Review the generated LaTeX in the preview pane
- Copy to clipboard, or insert directly into an open project
Tips for best results
- Use high contrast: dark writing on a light background works best
- Keep the image focused: crop to just the math, avoid large margins
- One expression per image gives higher accuracy than full-page scans
- If accuracy is low, try cleaning up the image (increase contrast, reduce noise) before re-uploading
Tip: The OCR engine handles equations, matrices, aligned environments, summations, integrals, and chemical formulas. For complex multi-line layouts, consider splitting into multiple images.
Using the API
You can also convert images programmatically via the REST API. See Snips API for details.
